Well, not quite. Things got in the way, some days were busier than others, and all in all I watched around 21 films. I’m still glad I attempted it, as I saw some great films (and some stinkers), including some I probably wouldn’t have watched had I not set myself this wee challenge.

I might try it again sometime, but since I didn’t complete it, I won’t post up the short reviews in the style I’d originally planned. However, I did begin this by photoshopping myself into one of my favourite films from the first week, a la #shamblesiswatching. Only seems fitting to finish it the same way. Plus, my game, my rules!

FUN FACT: It’s said that Yul Brynner was one of only two actors who could fire a gun without blinking. Can you guess who the other one is? Hello folks! You’re looking young and fresh and clean and NEW today. A bit like my blog, now that you mention it. As you can see, I’ve given the old girl a bit of a makeover. I’ve updated the links above, such as my music page, the page with free stuff, and the bit about me. So if you want to hear my music, buy my music, get free stuff or get in touch, it’s now that little bit easier. Some of you might also have noticed I’ve recently got one of those tumblrs. I’m still figuring it out, but I think you can contact me there too, or ask me things, or send me pictures of dyslexic cats and whatnot. So far there’s only one picture and a video of Phillip Schofield talking like Satan. I think my television might be possessed. Oh and there’s a song you might have heard but which you should download if you haven’t already.

I should’ve probably done this next month, so the title would’ve been a bit snappier. Done what you ask? Well I’ll bloody well tell you.

Firstly, hello! You look awfy swish today. As some of you might know, I watch quite a lot of films. However, there are lots of films I still haven’t seen. Some I expect to be brilliant. Some I expect will be awful. Some I expect to be a brilliant mix of both. We’ll see. Anyway, I decided that I’d remedy this with a simple wee experiment. Basically, I watch a film every day for the whole of April. I’m wondering if it’ll change my attitude to watching films. For a movie buff, I can be quite picky. For instance, Pixar movies are better for the afternoon, can’t watch a superhero movie with lunch (unless I’ve seen it several times before), movies where things explode need beer, you get the idea. The main thing however is that  by the end of the month I should have watched 30 films I haven’t seen before. If it works, I might try and keep it going for as long as I can.

I’ll also #shamblesiswatching some of them along the way, but not all of them.

As you might have noticed, we’re already in April. So, I must have watched some films already huh? Of course I have! Here are the first seven. I figured I’d need to say something about each film, but in order to make it fun (for myself) I need some sort of constraint on the number of words. See if you can spot which approach I’ve taken.

1. Change Up

Brilliant.

Charming! Delightful!

3. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

Pretty shit, obviously.

5. Midnight in Paris

Watched it twice. THAT good.

6. Gentlemen Broncos

Funny and quirky, in a good way.

Y'know, as funny as you'd hope a film starring Jemaine Clement and featuring Sam Rockwell flying on a rocket-launching stag would be.

7. Megamind

A funny, sweet film for all ages.

Hello folks! I know I’ve been a bit lax with my blog updating of late, but as you know I’ve not had proper Internet for the last few months. Until now! Internet party!!! Or in other words, stare at twitter and facebook for an hour then get bored and go outside.

It also means I can inform/remind/prod you lovely lot about upcoming gigs and whatnot. One I’m particularly excited about is supporting Julia and the Doogans at their EP launch show. It’s at the Captains Rest, this Friday. What’s that you say? It’s Friday the 13th? Well I guess anyone who comes to this show will be showing that not only do they have impeccable music taste but that they’re a maverick. A badass. Someone who laughs in the face of FEAR and DANGER and SUPERSTITION and OTHER STUFF LIKE THAT. Are you up to it? I bloody well hope so, because as well as music from me, Julia and the Doogans, and Dougie Greig, there’ll be free cake and lollipops. You can also pick up a copy of the Diamonds EP before its official release on the 16th. Sounds like a deal to me.

Hello folks! You look awfy swish today. Some of you might remember that last year I became part of Strummerville DIY. Don’t remember? Here’s a wee post for your perusal. (Ok so, the post also has some guff about my birthday, the good stuff is a paragraph or two in.) Don’t know what Strummerville is? Well here’s another handy link.

Since then I’ve gigged a lot more, met lots of great folk and hopefully I’ve got my music out to more people than I did this time last year. With this in mind, Strummerville have updated my profile on their site. They assure me this is all to do with the music and not because I have a different haircut. I know that most of you have probably heard/downloaded this already, but if you haven’t, I’d love for you to check out the site and download my track “Things That Make Me Angry” for free. The first winner is Rachael! She correctly guessed that I was watching Captain America.

Rach looks a lot more pleased about whatever they're looking at than Cap is. I like to think that she's been distracted by a kitten on the floor, doing drawings of unicorns and eating tiramisu. What?

Our next winner is Keith! He correctly guessed (despite very sparse clues) that I was watching The Inbetweeners Movie! Here he is hanging out with the guys.

I think we can all agree this would have been a much better film.

Next up we have a very unorthodox situation. This is the first time that someone has won despite guessing the wrong answer. It’s also the first time I’ve shooped someone into a film I haven’t actually seen before. Basically, after giving the clue “So far there’s been a cringey noooooooooo bit and a genuine laugh out loud bit. That’s about it”, yer man Jamie guessed that I was watching Schindler’s List. That made me laugh so much, he won this:

Up next we have ANOTHER unorthodox situation. Two in one blog post? In one year? In one LIFETIME? Michty me. I better explain. The other night I recommended to everyone following me on twitter that they watch the film 127 Hours. I recommend the same to you guys, it’s a brilliant film and a truly uplifting experience. However, well-known twitter smarty-pants Colin Bell (he does this thing, amongst other things) tweeted me guessing that I was watching 127 Hours and tagged it #shamblesiswatching. What does he win for his smarty-pants behaviour? Possibly my favourite shoop yet.

I have one last shoop for you, folks. I thought that since technically auld Jampot and young Keith (all age-related adjectives are arbitrary) won the same game, I should give em a joint shoop.

Hello folks! You’re looking lovely today, whatever day this is. If you’re reading this, it can only mean one thing. It means that I only have one copy of my EP left to sell. I’ve been selling these CDs at gigs and online for the past year or so and now it’s finally on the brink of selling out! Who will be the one to buy that last CD? Who will receive the last sent-out-in-the-post-with-a-hand-written-letter copy of Shambles Sails the Clockwork Sea? If you’d like to be that person, there’s only one way to do it (well, unless you’re sneaky that is) which is buying from my bandcamp.

I promise I’m working on new material and I’ll have new things for you to hear and possibly even buy (or steal) and hold before long, but right now I’m really excited that I’ve managed to sell nearly 100 copies of this EP to you lovely people. Whether you bought it because you really like my music, on a whim at a gig, or even just to support me in my musical endeavours, I’m really grateful. It means a lot to me that people take the time to give my music a chance. So, thank you!

Can’t wait to release the next thing!
